Three positive things, day fifty two

Tags:

Today was another 9/80 Friday off, so we got up to some fun.

The first positive thing was my #awesomewife deciding that we should take a trip East, starting with a rather nice "children's museum" (read: indoor playground with lots of themed ejumicashunol areas) in Dover, NH.

The second positive thing was going from the museum to the beach, via a small ice-cream stand. We ended up doing things somewhat in reverse - we weren't originally going to get in the water so didn't have the older kids change into their swimming gear, but because we were trying to keep the beach-time a little tight so we could get home for a bowling game, we decided to let them just get in the water with their clothes and then change into their swimming gear for the way home. I took care of Kian playing near the beach where the water was shallow, while #awesomewife kept an eye on the other two who went further out to where they could swim a bit. While we didn't say long - less than an hour total, we all had a great time.

The third positive thing was seeing our eldest absolutely pass out on the way home, and then once we got home he went straight to bed and slept through 'til morning. He was one tired kid and slept about eleven hour in total. It's not often that he sleeps that much, so it was good to see that he didn't try staying awake and just let himself sleep.

Three positive things, day fifty one

That was a pretty good Thursday.

The first positive thing was finishing my work week pretty well - I was a little concerned I wouldn't get to certain tasks, but I did in the end, so it'll make for a more relaxed weekend.

The second positive thing was my #awesomewife explaining that her trip to the grocery shopping with the kids (after a trip to the park with some friends) was made that more entertaining by our kids doing the "I'm Batman" / "I'm Groot" parts from the "How It Should have Ended" take on "Guardians of the Galaxy". Then at dinner time they started into it - Liam saying "I'm Batman" and Kian parrying with "I'm Groot" - they was hilarious! :-D

The third positive thing was the shock, and hilarity, discovering that one of our kittens scaled a curtain and went for a walk along the curtain rail - not something you expect to see every day ;-)

Three positive things, day forty six

That was a fairly average Saturday.

The first positive thing was receiving an awesome picture from my #awesomewife of the three kids playing at a park, which has become my new desktop picture.

The second positive thing was fixing a bunch more things in a Drupal plugin for interacting with Twitter; I'll be releasing the full update in a day or two.

The third positive thing was getting some ukulele practice time, and showing Kian how to strum :) He wanted to nuts just smacking the strings, but for a little bit I got him to strum gently. Tomorrow (Sunday) I'm going to spend some time with his brothers showing them a few bits that I've learned on it.

Finally getting back to finishing writing on the day the fun happened. Doh!

The first positive thing today was my annual review at work. It went rather well, other than the fire alarm that caused an impromptu ten minute recess. ;-) More news soon. Or something.

The second positive thing was Kian finally starting to use a name for our 8yo rather than using the same word he uses for our 11yo. While he isn't quite able to say the word "Liam", saying "Yum" at least helps us understand who he's referring to. And it's funny hearing him say it :)

The third positive thing was jumping in for a quick round of Just Dance with the kids, in which I once again got a high score for Daft Punk's "Da Funk", besting my previous score. I'd resisted getting these games before, but we're having quite a lot of fun with them!

Saturday! Woot!

The first positive thing was taking a little time this morning to dig my way through a bunch of bug reports (and fixes) for a Drupal plugin (aka "module") that I maintain that interacts with Twitter, which I happen to use on this site. I figure I'm about a week or two away from releasing the first new versions the module has had in several years.

The second positive thing was going out with the family for a bit of post-dinner play time at a local school playground. We had the place to ourselves, so it was quiet and pretty relaxing, and myself and our two eldest ran our legs off playing tag.

The third positive thing was joining our two eldest for a round of Just Dance 3. Tonight's tune was "Da Funk" from Daft Punk, a tune I was familiar with, but I'd never seen the game's dance moves before. Anyway, long story short, the game thought I did a better job that the other two - I still got it ;-)
