(posting a day late)
After the busy Saturday we had a quieter Sunday.
The first positive thing was having a cup of Starbucks for the first time in... ages. And it was their Pumpkin Spice Latte. And it was definitely better than previous years - not as sickeningly sweet, so thanks for the improvement, Starbucks.
The second positive thing was having #awesomewife's homemade pizza for lunch. It doesn't take too long to put together, especially when using pre-made dough, and being able to control the sauce (home made, from the last time she made a pot of spaghetti sauce) & toppings lets us make it exactly the way we want. And this one was delicious.
The third positive thing was watching the movie Home with our kids. Their mom had taken them to see it when it first came out, so it was nice to watch with them. It's a fun movie.
Today was a relatively average Wednesday.
The first positive thing was someone I work with on that project I mentioned yesterday sending me a surprise gift as a thank you for yesterday's late night efforts. There was a bit more tidying and optimizing to do this morning, but it appears to have worked well for an important demo they were doing today. Thanks Jason!
The second positive thing was my #awesomewife making her amazing lettuce wraps for lunch. They're one of the few things that our family could eat almost every meal for a week and not really grow tired of. I think I've mentioned them before, and this probably won't be the last time either ;-)
The third positive thing was #awesomewife getting a bunch of preparation work done for next year's homeschooling. She has more to go, but a few hours today got through a large chunk of it. Getting through this work now also means that she'll have a more relaxed time for the next few weeks before the next year starts, because it won't be hanging over her head.
Three quick things tonight.
First off - yes, kittens. Today we left the basement door open, instead of keeping it closed. Our upstairs cat, Bolt, appreciated this as it meant he could go have some food or use the litter whenever he wanted, instead of waiting for us to open the door to the stairs. The two kittens explored a little bit, but were a little apprehensive of the huge open space so still stayed up stairs, where they spent almost the entire day bouncing around, jumping onto counters, and climbing the curtains. Because kittens.
Secondly - dinner. My awesome wife found a recipe last year that's a recreation of a lettuce wrap dish from a popular Asian-American restaurant. After she tried it one she realized it needed some improvements, so she added a few more ingredients to the second batch, and it has become or family's favorite meal ever since. And it's rather amazing with some Sriracha sauce.
Finally, while I was getting Kian ready for bed and I was carrying him around the bedroom, he pointed at the ceiling and looked up. I touched the ceiling and asked him if he wanted to touch it. He said he did. So I carefully lifted him up, allowing him to touch the ceiling, and he gave this wide-eyed look of awe. He then kept asking to touch the ceiling until we put him to bed - it became his new favorite thing. This honestly isn't too surprising, given he likes being upside-down so much.
